To Sir With love

 to sir with love was a very entertaining movie.  it was a film made in 1967 about African American engineer, Mark Thackery.  When he starts a job at a highschool he soon realizes things aren't what he expected. when he introduces himself to the school students and staff members all treated him with disrespect and racism.   

                                                                

The students arent respectful, the girls aren't dressed correctly for school,  and the boys treated no one with respect.  Thackery realizes that nothing is going to change if he keeps the same traditional teaching style, like math and geography he changes the ciriculum completely. he starts teaching his students about important life and social skills. this starts to shift the way they act towards one another inluding thackery  himself.  

                                                           

this movie also touches a lot on racism. At one point one of the students loses his mom but no one wants to go drop off flowers because they dont want their reputation to be ruined due to the kid being African American. After thackerys lessons they realize it doesn't matter what others think and they all went to the families house to drop off flowers and attended the mothers funeral. 

                                            

over the course of the movie he hit many bumps and patches but towards the end they all come around. throughout the whole movie he was trying to become an engineer and being a teacher was just a filler job. when he tells the students he is leaving because he gets another job offer they are all upset and try to convince him to stay, he realizes that maybe he is fit to be a teacher after all. 

After watching this movie it really shows how much dedication and time teachers put into what they do. They aren't just there to teach students but also to get to know them and create a better life for everyone.  the film really touches on how to be an empathetic and forgiving person.
